Waterbury Public Schools BOE Set to Decide Superintendent’s Fate in Critical Vote

Dr. Verna Ruffin Superintendent WPS

Off to the vote we go!

Waterbury, CT (TWT) Dr. Verna Ruffin needs 7 Board of Education votes on April 25th to secure her new three-year contract with Waterbury Public Schools.

At last night’s Waterbury BOE meeting, no vote was taken on Dr. Ruffin’s previously approved—and later vetoed—three-year deal, which passed 9–1 last month. That means the stage is officially set for a high-drama showdown.

On April 25th, the Board will finally decide: Which 7 BOE members will vote YES and give Waterbury three more years under Ruffin’s leadership of WPS?

How did we get here?
