Christine McSweeney Appears in Court for Waterbury Hit-and-Run Death of Christopher Coleman
Christine McSweeney appeared at Waterbury Superior Court today around 12 PM, arriving in handcuffs wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue pants. She has been held at Niantic Women’s Correctional Facility since early March following a hit-and-run accident on Willow Street that left 34-year-old Christopher Coleman dead.
Represented by Attorney Moynahan, McSweeney’s case has been continued to May 1. At the request of the State’s Attorney’s Office, the case has been moved from the Part B docket (less serious) to the Part A docket, reflecting the severity of the incident.
The Court instructed the prosecution to gather and present evidence in a timely manner, considering the seriousness of the case, the fact that a defendant is incarcerated, and the family’s pursuit of answers and justice.
Friends and family of Christopher Coleman were in attendance but declined to comment at this time. Due to the emotional and sensitive nature of the case, The Waterbury Times also did not request comment from the family.
The trial will continue on May 1st.
