Dante Howell Charged in Daylight Shooting Death of Jarron Chapman in Waterbury

Today at Waterbury Superior CourtDante Howell of Meriden was formally charged in the shooting death of Jarron Chapman.

Over 25 family and friends attended the hearing, many wearing Jarron Chapman tribute shirts. The judge set bail at $5 million (50% cash) and scheduled the next court appearance for April 17 in Part A of Waterbury Superior Court.

Howell, who remained silent throughout the hearing, was escorted under heavy security. At one point, he briefly turned around but was instructed to keep his eyes forward.

Authorities describe this as a brazen daylight attack with multiple eyewitnesses and security camera footagedocumenting the incident. The Waterbury Times has confirmed the existence of co-conspirators, though it is currently unclear if they are in custody.
