Third Suspect Arrested in Waterbury Jarron Chapman Murder Case
The Waterbury Superior Court, Part A docket, featured Deera Nelson, 21, of Meriden, an alleged co-conspirator in the murder of Jarron Chapman last month outside the courthouse.
Nelson, charged in connection with the case, appeared briefly before the court but her appearance was overshadowed by the arrest of a third suspect as she was leaving the courtroom. She is scheduled to return on May 16.
Meanwhile, the alleged trigger man, Dante Howell of Meriden, faced a probable cause hearing yesterday and will return to court on May 1.
As Nelson exited Part A, family and friends of Jarron Chapman moved to Part B courtroom, where Nicholas Chiapponi, 29, of Glastonbury, appeared before the court for the first time. Chiapponi is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
The State Prosecutor described the incident as an “assassination” and labeled Chiapponi a tremendous threat to public safety. Chiapponi is being held on $3 million bond and is scheduled to return to Part A courtroom on April 24.
