PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Facebook Marketplace Robberies in Waterbury, CT

The Waterbury Police Department is investigating a series of armed robberies connected to Facebook Marketplace transactions. These incidents occurred on May 9, 12, and 17, 2025, in the Fiske Street area. In each case, victims were lured to the location under the pretense of selling electronics—specifically, a gaming laptop, an iPad, and an iPhone. The buyers requested that the devices be factory reset with video proof provided before meeting. Upon arrival, the victims were held at gunpoint and robbed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

  • Avoid Secluded Areas: Do not agree to meet in unfamiliar or secluded locations.
  • Bring a Companion: Always bring a friend or family member to the meetup.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, cancel the meeting.
  • Verify Buyer Profiles: Be cautious of buyers with newly created or incomplete profiles.
