Waterbury, CT- The City of Waterbury has confirmed that it is processing a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed on October 25, 2025, by The Waterbury Times for the water-quality test results connected to the Huntington Avenue water main break earlier this month.

The break, which caused service disruptions and concerns about water safety across several neighborhoods, prompted calls from residents for clearer communication and access to testing data. The Waterbury Times filed a FOIA request seeking those test results and any related documents explaining the city’s assessment of water quality following the incident.

The City assigned the request reference number R004160-102525 and has forwarded it to the appropriate departments to locate the responsive records. Under Connecticut law, the city must provide the records unless a specific exemption applies. The city has indicated that it will follow up once the documents are located and any associated costs are calculated.

This marks the first step in obtaining the full picture of the impact of the Huntington Ave water main break, including whether water quality was compromised and how quickly the system returned to safe standards.
