WATERBURY, CT — The Waterbury Health Department is calling on the entire Brass City community to step up for neighbors in need as temperatures drop. The Warming Waterbury: Warm Winter Essentials Giveaway & Resource Fair is officially scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Waterbury Health Department — and organizers say this year’s effort is more than a coat drive. It’s a united community mission.
The event brings together a powerful coalition of local organizations committed to ensuring that every Waterbury resident has access to warm, essential clothing this winter. From coats and gloves to blankets and hygiene products, the drive aims to meet a wide range of needs for children, teens, and adults.
Community Asked to Donate New Winter Essentials
Organizers are urging Waterbury residents to donate NEW items only. Needed essentials include:
- Winter coats (all sizes)
- Hats & scarves
- Gloves & mittens
- Socks & undergarments
- Hand warmers
- Blankets
- Hygiene products
With drop-off locations placed across the city, donating has never been easier. The drive runs until November 18, giving residents time to contribute before distribution begins at the Nov. 22 event.
“Every item donated is more than clothing,” organizers said. “It’s warmth, dignity, and proof of what happens when a city stands together.”
A Citywide Coalition for Winter Support
This year’s Warming Waterbury initiative includes participation from numerous community partners, nonprofits, and neighborhood groups working toward one shared mission: keeping Waterbury families warm and supported this winter.
The upcoming Warm Winter Essentials Giveaway & Resource Fair will not only provide clothing but also connect residents with local resources, services, and information to support family stability through the colder months.
