WATERBURY, CT- The Waterbury Board of Education has shifted its weekly meeting to Wednesday this week, not Thursday, due to members traveling to the annual Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) conference this weekend.

The adjusted schedule ensures the Board can complete its business before joining BOE members from across Connecticut for the statewide conference, which focuses on district governance, student outcomes, transportation challenges, and best practices for school leadership.

A BOE commissioner confirmed the change early Tuesday, noting:
“We all go to our state BOE conference for the weekend. We belong to the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE).”

The CABE conference is considered one of the most important training and networking weekends of the year for local school board officials. Sessions often include workshops on:

  • student achievement and data reporting
  • school transportation and contracting

  • special education services
  • governance standards
  • board accountability
  • community engagement
  • equity and school climate

Parents who follow BOE updates — especially regarding the ongoing bus delays, upcoming transportation contract proposals, and district policy changes — should note the revised meeting day.

The Waterbury Times will cover Wednesday’s BOE meeting and publish updates on major decisions affecting families.
