Waterbury, CT – Ramon “Ray” Sous, a longtime attorney and civic leader in the Valley, will be recognized as “Lebanese Mayor for the Day” at Waterbury City Hall on Friday, November 21 at 10 a.m. This honor celebrates Sous’s more than 50 years of professional achievement, community involvement, and dedication to public service.

Born and raised in Seymour, Sous has lived in Shelton since 1976. His parents hailed from Beirut and Zgharta, Lebanon, and his family heritage has informed his lifelong commitment to both professional excellence and civic engagement. Sous earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and his Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law, after beginning his studies at the University of the Americas in Mexico City.

Sous began his legal career with Bridgeport Legal Services, helping Spanish-speaking clients access justice. In 1974, he opened his own law firm in Seymour, establishing a reputation for fairness and professionalism. Over the years, he also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Shelton for 22 years and as Town Attorney and Counsel to the Water Pollution Control Authority in Seymour for a decade.

Beyond the courtroom, Sous has made a lasting impact through community service. He has been an active volunteer with the Knights of Columbus and the Valley YMCA, where he also served as president. Sous led the Valley Bar Association as president and was a dedicated parish council member and legal counsel to Our Lady of Lebanon Churchfrom 1975 until his retirement in 2017.

Since 1974, he has been involved with the Shelton Republican Town Committee, currently serving on the steering committee to guide civic engagement in the Valley.

Sous and his wife, Patricia, have been married for 56 years. They have raised two daughters, Elena and Maria, and are proud grandparents to Lila, Kira, and Thiago. His lifelong commitment to family, faith, and public service serves as an inspiring example of consistent, quiet leadership.
