Waterbury, CT- Waterbury authorities continue to investigate the June 28, 2025, double-stabbing on Washington Street that claimed the life of 47-year-old Samuel Lopez. A second man was injured in the attack but was released from the hospital after treatment for a serious facial laceration.

Waterbury Stabbing Leaves One Dead, One Injured Washington Street

Police have charged 50-year-old Jose Ayala of Waterbury with murder and first-degree assault. Investigators say the attack stemmed from a personal dispute, and that Ayala was acquainted with both victims.

The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on the 60 block of Washington Street, an area not known for violence. The community and authorities are now watching the case closely as legal proceedings move forward.
