Position: Maintainer I – City of Waterbury, CT

Salary: $18.58 – $25.86 per hour
Note: New hires start at the beginning of the pay range.

  • Routine manual work maintaining city parks and public spaces

Manual Labor Division

  • Heavy lifting, loading and unloading
  • Sewer and manhole maintenance
  • Transporting equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Assisting skilled workers in carpentry, plumbing, and more

Trades Helper

  • Assists with carpentry, cabinetry, furniture repair
  • Rough carpentry work and material handling
  • Tool filing, sanding, sharpening, and equipment upkeep
  • May perform journeyman-level tasks under supervision

Minimum Experience & Training

To qualify, applicants must have one of the following by the closing date:

  • High School Diploma or GEDOR
  • One (1) year of experience in any of the following:
    • Building maintenance or building security
    • Grounds maintenance
    • General manual labor
    • Serving as a helper to a skilled tradesperson

Additional Requirement

A valid Connecticut State Driver’s License is required for certain assignments.

Copies of diplomas, transcripts, or GED certificates must be submitted with the application, if applicable.
