Waterbury Police Arrest Suspect in Drug and Auto-Theft Related Incident

Waterbury, CT- On November 18, 2025, at approximately 11:28 a.m., the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force and Vice and Intelligence Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the Whitewood Road area when they attempted to stop a gold Honda with a misuse marker plate.

During the stop, the vehicle’s operator, later identified as Demetrious Hunter (32) of Waterbury, attempted to evade officers and collided with two police cruisers. Hunter exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.

  • Drug paraphernalia
  • 11.3 grams of crack cocaine
  • 103 bags of heroin/fentanyl

Charges Against Hunter

Hunter had an active arrest warrant in Waterbury and was additionally charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Unsafe backing
  • Reckless driving
  • Misuse of marker plate
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Failure to display tint sticker
  • Interfering with a police officer
  • Operating an unregistered motor vehicle
  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell (2 counts)
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle without insurance
