WATERBURY, CT – Holy Land USA is excited to announce the development of a new Stations of the Cross trail, offering visitors a deeply spiritual, contemplative experience reflecting on the Passion of Jesus Christ.
A press conference will be held Wednesday, November 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Land USA, 60 Slocum Street, Waterbury. The public and media are invited to attend.
The Stations of the Cross, a centuries-old Christian meditation on Christ’s journey from condemnation to Resurrection, will now have a modern, immersive trail at Holy Land USA. This follows the 2013 recreation of the iconic Cross, making it one of the most significant upgrades to the site in recent years.
The trail will feature 14 stations along a scenic 3/10-mile wooded path, using natural rock formations as meditative backdrops. Designed to reflect life’s challenges and victories, the trail encourages visitors to pray for themselves and others while contemplating Christ’s journey.
- Trail width: 10-foot packed path for comfortable walking
- Amenities: Benches at each station for prayer and reflection
- Time to complete: 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on pace
Construction Timeline:
- Rough grading, tree clearing, and packed path installation expected before Christmas 2025
- Full trail completion, including station designs, projected Spring 2026
“We pray and hope that this latest major initiative at Holy Land USA will continue to draw people to this holy mountain and bless our beautiful city of Waterbury and beyond,” said Father James Sullivan, Rector of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and Board Member of Holy Land USA.
