Waterbury Man Seriously Injured in 30+ Foot Fall While Fleeing Officers; Found with Only Marijuana

Waterbury, CT —  A 30-year-old man who sustained serious injuries on Friday after attempting to flee officers on foot from the State Street side of the Waterbury Superior Courthouse, ultimately leaping more than 30 feet from the courthouse parking garage to the lower level on Meadow Street was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Waterbury Superior Court- State Street entrance which is more than 30 feet higher than the Meadow Street entrance on the opposite side.

According to information obtained through our conversation with a Waterbury Police Department detective, the suspect ran through the Superior Court parking garage, likely unaware that the structure drops sharply from the State Street entrance down to the Meadow Street side.

While attempting to escape, he went over the edge of the garage and fell approximately 32 feet, landing on the pavement below. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to the hospital with significant injuries.

Suspect jumped from the second level of the Parking Garage Structure sustaining serious injuries when landing on the Meadow Street entrance

Police confirmed thatthe suspect was found to be in possession of marijuana, and no additional charges have been disclosed at this time.
