Waterbury Police Expands Again: Meet the 2025 Recruit Class

WATERBURY — The City of Waterbury formally introduced its next group of police recruits on Wednesday as seven individuals took their oaths inside City Hall, officially beginning their training with the Waterbury Police Department.

Waterbury City Hall & Local Government –

The new class, identified as the 2025-02 recruit group, increases the department’s ranks to 307 officers. Three officers who joined the agency earlier this year also stood with the class during the ceremony to mark the start of their service.

The Waterbury recruits sworn in on December 4 include:

  • John Ducham
  • Visoud Kong
  • Brenden Makubika
  • Drew Mancini
  • John Morgan
  • Jonathan Rosario
  • Julissa Vazquez

Recruits from several other Connecticut communities are also part of this academy class, adding to the mix of experience and perspectives represented.

The ceremony served as the official launch of the group’s path into policing, emphasizing Waterbury’s continued focus on building and supporting a strong public safety workforce as the new officers begin their careers.
