WATERBURY — Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred late Monday night in the parking lot of the Bank of America at 1030 Wolcott Street.
According to Waterbury Police, a resident was robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect driving a gray vehicle after meeting to sell items arranged through Facebook Marketplace.
The victim was not injured and went directly to police headquarters to file a report at approximately 11:15 PM.
The investigation is ongoing. No additional details have been released.

Police are reminding residents never to schedule online sale meet-ups at banks, ATMs, or isolated parking lots, even if the location feels safe.
For safety, always meet in public, well-lit, high-traffic areas, preferably designated Safe Exchange Zones, such as:
- Waterbury Police Headquarters public lobby
- Local police station parking lots
- Busy retail locations during business hours
These locations are surveilled and provide the safest environment for in-person marketplace transactions.
