Waterbury’s Mayor Pernerewski Provides Drinking Water Distribution Update

WATERBURY, CT — Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr. provided an update Sunday on the City of Waterbury’s ongoing drinking water distribution efforts as officials continue responding to widespread service disruptions.

Waterbury Faces Major Water Emergency: Drinking Water Distribution & Updates

City officials announced that the drinking water distribution sites at Municipal Stadium (1200 Watertown Avenue) and Crosby High School (300 Pierpont Road) were temporarily closed beginning at 12:30 p.m. due to all available bottled water supplies being fully distributed.

The City expects the arrival of 10 tractor-trailer trucks carrying bottled water at approximately 2:00 p.m. Once the shipment is received and unloaded, distribution at both locations is anticipated to resume at 3:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m., or until supplies are depleted.

Waterbury Health Director Clarifies Restaurant Operations During Water Main Crisis

Officials reported significant distribution volumes over the past two days. On Saturday, the City distributed 32,877 gallons of drinking water. Earlier today, an additional 43,699 gallons were distributed in just two hours. To date, the City has provided a total of 76,596 gallons of drinking water to Waterbury residents.

Both locations are expected to reopen at 3:00 p.m. today and remain open until 7:00 p.m., or until water supplies are exhausted.

City officials emphasized that elderly residents and individuals with disabilities who are unable to travel to distribution sites should contact the Emergency Operations Center for assistance by dialing 311 or calling 203-597-3444.

The City of Waterbury stated it will continue to provide updates as additional water shipments arrive and distribution operations continue.
