City of Waterbury Opens 24-Hour Warming Center as Cold Weather Emergency Continues

WATERBURY, CT — The City of Waterbury has opened a 24-hour warming center to assist residents facing dangerous cold weather conditions.

The warming center is located at the North End Recreation Center268 North Main Street, and will operate continuously from 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, through 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

City officials urge anyone without adequate heat, shelter, or experiencing a cold-related emergency to take advantage of this resource.

Residents in need of immediate assistance or additional services can contact the Connecticut Help Line by dialing 2-1-1. A full list of statewide emergency and shelter resources is also available at www.211ct.org.

Officials stress that exposure to extreme cold can be life-threatening, particularly for seniors, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those with medical conditions.
