According to the city, residents and businesses did not experience a loss of water pressure during the incident. As a result, no boil water advisory is being issued.

Mayor Paul Pernerewski praised Water Department crews for their rapid response, noting that repairs were completed ahead of incoming winter weather.

“Our crews worked expeditiously to repair the break before the start of the snow event,” said Mayor Pernerewski. “Their efforts ensured residents maintained uninterrupted water service during what could have been a challenging situation.”

City officials noted that Waterbury typically experiences between 30 and 40 water main breaks each year, with a higher concentration occurring during the winter months. This incident was described as consistent with normal seasonal patterns.
