Presidents’ Day Refuse Collection Schedule Changes Announced

WATERBURY, CT — In observance of Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 16, 2026, the City of Waterbury has announced changes to its refuse and recycling collection schedule.

There will be no refuse or recycling collection on Monday, February 16. All Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, and all Tuesday collections will take place on Wednesday.

In addition, the Mark Lane Transfer Facility will be closed on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17. The facility is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, February 18, at 7:00 a.m.

City officials ask residents to plan accordingly and thank the public for their cooperation and understanding.

UPDATE: New Year’s Day Refuse & Recycling Schedule (Jan. 1, 2026)

In observance of the New Year’s Day holiday on Thursday, January 1, 2026, the City of Waterbury Department of Public Works has announced the following changes to the refuse and recycling collection schedule:

• No refuse or recycling collection on Thursday, January 1
• Thursday collections will be completed on Friday, January 2
• Friday collections will be completed on Saturday, January 3

The Mark Lane Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, January 1.

All refuse and recycling will be collected according to this adjusted schedule.

WATERBURY — The City of Waterbury Department of Public Works has announced an adjusted refuse and recycling collection schedule due to impending winter weather forecasted for Friday, December 26, and Saturday, December 27, 2025.

City Announces Christmas and New Year’s Refuse & Recycling Schedule Changes

According to city officials, the following changes will be in effect:

• Friday, December 26, 2025 collection will take place on Monday, December 29, 2025
• Monday, December 29, 2025 collection will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025
• Tuesday, December 30, 2025 collection will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025

Residents are assured that all refuse and recycling will be collected, though pickup will occur according to the adjusted schedule.

Waterbury Activates Snow Parking Ban Ahead of Winter Storm

City officials emphasized that the changes are intended to allow crews to safely manage collection services during winter weather conditions.
