Waterbury Activates Snow Parking Ban Ahead of Winter Storm

WATERBURY, CT — The City of Waterbury has announced a snow parking ban ahead of a forecasted winter storm expected to bring heavy snowfall to the area.

Waterbury Opens 24/7 Warming Center as Temps Drop

Mayor Paul Pernerewski confirmed that the parking ban will take effect Friday, December 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. and remain in place until Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.

City officials say precipitation is expected to begin Friday afternoon, with conditions deteriorating as snowfall intensifies.

“This is our first significant snow event of the season, and preparation is critical,” Mayor Pernerewski said. “We appreciate residents’ cooperation with the parking ban, which allows our crews to clear streets more efficiently and maintain safe travel conditions citywide.”

During the ban:

  • All posted Snow Zones are in effect
  • No parking is permitted on the odd-numbered side of all city streets
  • Vehicles parked in violation may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense

Residents are strongly encouraged to use private driveways or city-owned parking garages during the storm.

  • Scovill Street Garage — 33 Scovill Street
  • Buckingham Garage — 210 Bank Street

Refuse & Recycling Update

The city also warned that refuse and recycling collection schedules may be impacted due to storm conditions. Updates regarding delays or revised pickup days will be announced as information becomes available.
