WATERBURY, CT — The Crosby Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the 2025–26 season on Friday night, falling 93–55 to Central High School in a matchup that came on the second night of a back-to-back.

Crosby entered the game 4–0 after an impressive early-season stretch that included wins over Holy CrossKennedy, and Bridgeport powerhouse Kolbe Cathedral. The Bulldogs were unable to carry that momentum into the matchup with Central, which controlled the game from start to finish.

The loss marks Crosby’s first setback of the season and serves as an early test as the schedule intensifies.

Early-Season Statement Still Intact

Despite the defeat, Crosby’s 4–0 start signaled a strong opening to the year. Victories over local rivals Holy Cross and Kennedy, combined with a statement win over Kolbe Cathedral, positioned the Bulldogs as an early team to watch in the NVL.

Friday’s game came under challenging circumstances, with Crosby playing its second game in as many nights.

Tough Stretch Ahead

Crosby will look to respond quickly, as the Bulldogs face a demanding stretch of games over the next week.

  • Saturday: vs. Woodland (3–0)
  • Monday, January 5: at WCA, three-time defending NVL champions

The matchup against Woodland presents an opportunity for Crosby to reset, while Monday’s road game against WCA will be an early measuring stick against the league’s standard.

Outlook

One loss does little to define Crosby’s season, but the upcoming schedule will provide clarity on where the Bulldogs stand within the NVL hierarchy. How Crosby responds over the next two games may be more telling than the result against Central.
