Kennedy falls to 2–6

Watertown had to earn it.

The Kennedy Eagles came out aggressive and confident, jumping out early and riding a hot shooting first half to a 35–34 halftime lead, threatening a major NVL upset. Behind seven first-half three-pointers, the Eagles (2–6) showed no fear against a Watertown team chasing its first NVL title since 2012.

But championship-level teams respond—and Watertown did.

Led by Chris O’Toole (19 points) and Stallworth Counseling Player of the Game John Platt (27 points), the 7–1 Indians weathered every second-half run Kennedy threw at them. Each time momentum shifted, Watertown answered with timely buckets, defensive stands, or trips to the free-throw line.

The turning point came with just over three minutes remaining. Kennedy had a chance to secure a defensive stop and potentially tie the game m, but a missed rebound led to a critical and-one finish by Platt, swinging momentum firmly back to Watertown.

From there, execution decided the outcome.

Kennedy struggled at the foul line down the stretch, while Watertown converted clutch free throws to seal the win. Tyler Morrison led the Eagles with 23 points, capping off a strong performance in a loss that showed Kennedy’s potential despite the record.

Watertown moves on at 7–1, battle-tested and still firmly in the NVL title conversation.
