WATERBURY, CT — The City of Waterbury has announced a citywide snow parking ban as a major winter storm approaches the region.
Paul K. Pernerewski Jr. confirmed the ban will go into effect Sunday, February 22 at 1:00 PM and will remain in place until further notice.
What Residents Need to Know
Forecasts indicate heavy snowfall beginning Sunday afternoon, prompting the city to take early action so plow crews can keep roads clear and safe.
To assist snow removal efforts:
- NO parking on the odd-numbered side of any city street
- Vehicles must be moved to the even-numbered side or off-street parking
- All posted Snow Zones remain in effect
“In preparation for the incoming storm, we are asking all residents to move their vehicles to the even-numbered side of the street or into a city parking garage,” Mayor Pernerewski said. “This will help ensure that our crews can properly plow roadways and maintain safe travel conditions for emergency responders and the public.”
Enforcement & Towing
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban — including those in Snow Zones or on the odd-numbered side of streets — may be:
- Ticketed
- Towed at the owner’s expense
Residents are strongly encouraged to use driveways or municipal garages instead of street parking during the storm.
City Parking Garage Options
Residents may park in the following municipal garages:
- Scovill Street Garage
33 Scovill Street - Buckingham Garage
210 Bank Street
