Waterbury- Authorities are continuing to investigate today’s shooting incident on North Main Street in Waterbury. The following details are preliminary and based on early information from sources familiar with the situation.

According to initial reports from an individual with ties to the situation, the business owner was working on a vehicle, changing a tire, and was lying on the ground when a suspect approached and allegedly assaulted him—possibly in an attempted robbery. The victim sustained facial injuries and required medical attention at the scene.

Breaking: Shooting Incident Reported on North Main Street in Waterbury

While being attacked and unable to defend himself physically, the owner reportedly drew a legally owned firearm and fired at the suspect. It is believed the suspect may have returned fire. Fortunately, the victim—identified as “Tony” —was not shot during the incident.

The suspect fled the scene toward Chase Avenue and was later reported to have arrived at Waterbury Hospital with a gunshot wound. Police were notified by the hospital shortly after the incident.
