Waterbury-A Waterbury man riding his motor scooter was clipped by a vehicle Wednesday while traveling through the Willow/Hillside area. The incident occurred late in the afternoon, and it wasn’t until the rider reached West Main Street, in front of Immaculate Conception Church, that first responders arrived on the scene.
Officials reported that the rider suffered no apparent injuries. Police and emergency personnel checked the individual on site.

Quick Response from Emergency Services
The Waterbury Times observed first-hand the rapid response from the city’s emergency services. Notably, new UConn Health Waterbury Hospital vehicles arrived moments after the police, demonstrating improved response times for local emergencies.

Safety Reminder as Weather Changes
With warmer weather and more cyclists, scooter riders, and pedestrians returning to city streets, authorities remind motorists and riders to share the road safely.
- Drivers should be alert for smaller vehicles and give adequate space when passing.
- Cyclists and scooter riders are advised to wear protective gear and obey traffic rules.
“Incidents like this show how important it is for everyone on the road to stay alert,” said a local traffic official.

Waterbury Times will continue to monitor road safety issues in the city and report on incidents affecting motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
