WATERBURY, CT — On March 26, 2026, officers from the Waterbury Police Department conducted a coordinated operation involving multiple specialized units, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a firearm and ammunition.
According to police, members of the Emergency Response Team, Vice and Intelligence Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, Gang Task Force, Auto Theft Task Force, and K9 Unit (Bane) executed multiple search warrants. The warrants targeted both the person of 18-year-old Jean Carlos Andujar-Santiago, of Waterbury, and a residence located at 1000 West Main Street.
Authorities stated that prior to the execution of the warrants, both Andujar-Santiago and Erik Mendez-Santiago had active arrest warrants out of Waterbury.
During the investigation, officers recovered a Taurus G2c 9mm firearm, ammunition, and a 15-round high-capacity magazine.

Andujar-Santiago was taken into custody and charged with theft of a firearm, unlawful storage of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, and possession of a high-capacity magazine.

Police noted that Andujar-Santiago has two prior serious juvenile offenses and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Erik Mendez-Santiago was also taken into custody on his active arrest warrant without incident.
The Waterbury Police Department stated it remains committed to ensuring the safety of the community.
