Waterbury-New photos obtained by The Waterbury Times show Bank Street still very much in transition as the Streetscape project pushes forward months after our initial December coverage.
While progress is clearly visible—with upgraded sidewalks, ongoing roadway work, and new design elements beginning to take shape—the area remains an active construction zone in multiple sections. Some portions appear closer to completion, while others show that work is far from finished.
For residents, drivers, and local business owners, the day-to-day reality is a mix of improvement and disruption. Traffic patterns continue to shift, accessibility varies block by block, and the full impact of the project is still playing out in real time.

Waterbury, CT- Monday marks Day 1 of the scheduled paving work on Bank Street, part of the City of Waterbury’s ongoing downtown streetscape upgrades. Crews began work at 7:00 a.m., officially launching a three-day paving schedule expected to run Monday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
A daily detour is now in effect, and drivers should expect delays during work hours.
