“Road Rage or Self-Defense?” New Details Emerge in I-84 Slashing Case
Today at Waterbury Superior Court, Shayla Lovett was assigned a public defender and given a court date in late May following her alleged slashing of an unidentified man during a roadside altercation Friday night on I-84 near Exit 23.
According to Connecticut State Police, a trooper witnessed the confrontation and intervened, placing Lovett under arrest moments after the alleged incident.
But in an interview exclusive to The Waterbury Times, Lovett says this may be a clear case of self-defense.
Lovett shared photo evidence from the altercation, and based on what TWT reviewed, there appears to be more to this story than originally reported. With:
- Connecticut State Police dash cam,
- Lovett’s photo evidence, and
- the possibility of additional dash cam footage,
questions are already forming about why only one person was charged once this case moves deeper into the court process.
A petite woman versus an average-sized man on the side of a highway — and only the woman is facing charges? This case is far from settled.
