George Noujaim, current 4th District alderman and candidate Republicans for a United Waterbury
I refused the chance to run on the town committee’s endorsed slate, and I turned down any possible nominations being in that room that night of convention. That was not a difficult decision. I refuse to be part of a slate tainted by corruption, intimidation, felons and self-interest. I chose not to seek the town committee’s nomination, knowing full and Well, that it would not be forthcoming.

Penalizing me for putting my loyalty to the community ahead of marching orders from the local Republican party. I was denied the party nomination to seek the seat for another term.
There was a sense of relief that I was free from the burden of the party endorsement and able to develop a slate of challengers of local Republicans who like myself are committed to the service of our community and working in a bipartisan manner to move our city forward.
The constant barrage of personal attacks not only on those of us seeking election but other members of our community who serve in a volunteer capacities to move our city forward is disgraceful.
Let me be clear: I will not stand beside convicted felons. Public service should be about integrity, not about rewarding people who broke the law. If the committee cannot draw the line at that, then the committee has lost its moral compass.
I also refuse to be complicit in corruption and extortion. Too many people in local politics treat power as a weapon, not a responsibility. They thrive on threats, backroom deals, and favors for friends instead of fairness for taxpayers. That is not leadership — it is exploitation. And I want no part of it.
On top of that, this year’s slate is stacked with Democrats who switched to Republicans just to get on the ballot. Switching parties for convenience, not conviction, is an insult to voters. Their top political “consultant” is still a registered democrat. It turns politics into a game of labels, not principles. If you can’t stand firmly in your beliefs, you don’t belong leading the people.
That is why I chose a different path. I built my own slate — one grounded in values, accountability, and a vision for the whole city, not just a clique of wannabe insiders. My team is not about power plays or backroom bargains. We are about honesty, transparency, and service to every resident.
The choice is clear: voters can back a slate of corruption, felons and careerism, or they can support a team that actually believes in integrity. I chose not to compromise my values. And I ask the people of this city to stand with me in demanding better. VOTE ROW B ON SEPTEMBER 9th !!
