Breaking Overnight: Waterbury Police Respond to Suspect(s) Near Baldwin and Pleasant Held at Gunpoint

Waterbury, CT- Waterbury Police responded to the area of Baldwin Street and Pleasant Street early Saturday morning after an officer encountered multiple suspects, at least some of whom were reportedly held at gunpoint during the initial contact.

During the response, officers began searching for additional individuals who fled the scene. At least one suspect was taken into custody following a foot chase through the surrounding neighborhood.

Police established a perimeter across several nearby streets, including River Street, East Liberty Street, and surrounding areas- while they searched for a Black male wearing a black puffer jacket and carrying a backpack, who had reportedly run from the Baldwin/Pleasant area.

A police K-9 unit was deployed to track the suspect. Officers reported spotting the individual moving through backyards between East Liberty, River, and connecting streets.

As of the latest updates:

  • One suspect is in custody.
  • A second male wearing a black puffer jacket remained outstanding at the time of the transmission.
  • Police continued to search the surrounding area.
