WATERBURY — Police have released new details following the Nov. 29 shooting on Grand Street that left a 39-year-old man hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Jessica Towels, 39, of Meriden, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with the incident. According to Waterbury police, officers were already patrolling the downtown area around 1:45 a.m. when they heard several gunshots. Responding units searched the scene but did not locate a victim.

Later that morning, a 39-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen. Police quickly linked the injuries to the Grand Street incident.

Towels is now charged with:
- Assault in the First Degree
- Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
- Criminal Use of a Weapon
- Negligent Storage of a Firearm
- Criminal Mischief
- Reckless Endangerment
- Possession of a Controlled Substance

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups of individuals, and emphasize that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
