Waterbury-Bank Street is officially open to traffic again as the City of Waterbury continues progress on the long-planned Downtown Streetscape improvements. Drivers can now move freely through the corridor, but construction crews remain active along the sidewalks as the next phase of work gets underway.
Bank Street Paving Begins Today: What Waterbury Drivers Need to Know
The reopening marks a major step forward for the project, which aims to modernize one of the city’s key downtown stretches with new sidewalks, upgraded lighting, improved pedestrian access, and enhanced street aesthetics.
While vehicles are back on the road, pedestrians will still see temporary closures, cones, and machinery as crews work block by block to install the new sidewalk sections. Businesses along Bank Street remain open throughout construction.
