Waterbury, CT – Three individuals have been arrested after a reported robbery in progress at 12 Fleet Street in Waterbury, according to the Waterbury Police Department. Officers quickly responded to the scene, where they detained two suspects outside the building and later apprehended a third suspect.
The incident, which took place in the Waterbury neighborhood of Fleet Street, involved a failed robbery attempt by individuals known to the victim. Authorities say that Jason Zaruma, 28, of Danbury, and Cong Tran, 34, of Bristol, were the first two suspects detained. The suspects were involved in the robbery conspiracy but were later found to be in possession of illegal substances.
A third suspect, Angel Taber, 26, of Waterbury, was identified and taken into custody after police observed him clutching his waistband. Taber was found to be carrying a firearm during the attempted robbery. The Waterbury Police Department deployed K9 Bane to assist in the search. The search led to the discovery of a Ruger SR22 handgun and a firearm holster at the scene. Police also seized significant quantities of cocaine and heroin during the investigation.
