David Hernandez, 20, of Waterbury, has been identified as a suspect, and has been arrested for his

involvement in an incent that left a 27-year-old Meriden male suffering of several stab wounds in

the 200-block area of Wood Street on Friday. Hernandez is currently being held at the Waterbury

Police Department on a $750,000 bond. His court arraignment is set for Monday the 9th at 9 am.

The 27-year-old victim is currently in stable condition and is still receiving medical treatment at a

local area hospital.

February 6th, 2026, at 12:55 pm, Waterbury Police Officers responded to the 200-block of Wood

Street following a report of an adult male victim who had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 27-year-old Meriden male, who had sustained stab

wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

This incident remains an active investigation.

WATERBURY — An adult male is in critical condition following a stabbing on Wood Street Thursday afternoon, according to Waterbury Police.

Police said officers responded to the 200 block of Wood Street at approximately 12:55 p.m. on February 6, 2026, after receiving a report of a stabbing involving an adult male victim.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported the man to a local hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

No information regarding a suspect or the circumstances leading up to the stabbing has been released at this time.
