Police Arrest Man After North Main Shooting — Could Past Arson Cases Be Linked?

Waterbury- A daytime shooting on North Main Street Thursday left one man hospitalized and resulted in the arrest of 33-year-old Scott Basile of New Haven, who shares the same name and age of a parolee previously convicted of arson in Waterbury.

Is this the same Scott Basile from 2018 who was convicted of Arson responsible for shooting on North Main Street?

Waterbury-Police were called to the 1900 block of North Main Street around 11:18 a.m. after reports of shots fired. One adult male sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities determined the shooting arose from a disturbance between two individuals and described it as an isolated incident.

Basile was also injured during the event, sustaining a gunshot wound and a graze wound. After treatment, he was taken to Waterbury Police headquarters and charged with third-degree assault and failure to comply with fingerprinting requirements. His bond was set at $55,000.
