WATERBURY Fire crews responded to a structure fire late Thursday morning on Bank Street in the central business district of downtown Waterbury.
According to officials, firefighters from the Waterbury Fire Department were dispatched to the scene and quickly worked to contain the blaze. Crews were seen operating hoses and ventilating the building as smoke rose above the downtown corridor.

The fire was brought under control without reports of major injuries. The extent of damage to the building was not immediately clear.
Bank Street sits in the heart of Waterbury’s central business district and is home to several storefronts and offices. The incident drew attention from pedestrians and nearby workers as emergency vehicles lined the street.
Officials have not yet released details on what may have caused the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.
