WATERBURY, CT — A verbal dispute escalated into gunfire Tuesday night in a residential neighborhood, prompting a heavy police response.

Officers were called to the area of Willow Street and Woodlawn Terrace around 8:05 PM after reports of shots fired during an argument.

No injuries have been reported, but police moved quickly, detaining multiple individuals at the scene as they worked to secure the area and determine what led to the gunfire.

Residents in the area reported a tense and chaotic scene as officers flooded the block within minutes.

Authorities have not yet released additional details, including how many shots were fired or whether any weapons were recovered.
