WATERBURY, CT — As communities across Connecticut look for stronger support systems in education and family resources, Leaders for Educational Advocacy and Diversity (LEAD) is working to fill that gap through a wide range of programs and services.

Founded by a group of parents, LEAD was created to serve as an active voice for families while expanding access to quality educational opportunities across the state. The organization focuses on building a more equitable system that supports students on their path to college, careers, and long-term success.

At its core, LEAD’s mission is to create a healthy, educated, and civically engaged community by increasing access to diverse and effective educational programs.

LEAD’s work is structured around five key pillars:

Educational Options
The organization provides programs designed to support both youth and adults, including English classes, arts and creative courses, career fairs, youth development initiatives, and partnerships like the Wave Program with Naugatuck Valley Community College.

History & Culture
LEAD promotes cultural awareness and inclusion through events and programming that highlight Brazilian, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Native American, and Black cultures, along with other cultural celebrations that reflect Connecticut’s diversity.

Health & Wellbeing
Programs focused on physical and mental wellness include Zumba, Pilates, family support networks, women’s empowerment initiatives, senior social programs, and community health fairs.

Financial Literacy
LEAD also works to strengthen economic opportunity through networking events, money management programs, and workshops that cover topics such as business licensing, marketing, and branding for startups.

Through these initiatives, LEAD is positioning itself as more than just an educational organization—it is becoming a community hub for empowerment, connection, and opportunity.

As organizations like LEAD continue to grow, they play a critical role in shaping not just individual success stories, but the long-term strength and stability of communities across Connecticut.
