WATERBURY — Michael DiGiovancarlo has officially accepted the Democratic nomination to seek another term representing Connecticut’s 74th House District.
In a social media post shared Thursday evening, DiGiovancarlo thanked members of the district for their continued support and reflected on his six years serving the city at the State Capitol.
“Last night it was my honor to accept the nomination to run for re-election for State Representative in the 74th District,” DiGiovancarlo wrote. “I want to thank the members of the 74th district for their nomination. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve these last 6 years as your Representative. I will continue to work tirelessly for the 74th District and the City of Waterbury.”
DiGiovancarlo, a Democrat, has represented the 74th District since first being elected in 2020. The district covers portions of Waterbury and has remained a key Democratic stronghold in local state politics.
During his tenure, DiGiovancarlo has been involved in legislative discussions surrounding public safety, education, economic development, and local infrastructure issues impacting Waterbury residents.
His announcement comes as political activity across Waterbury begins to intensify ahead of the 2026 election season, with party nominations, endorsements, and campaign organizing already underway.
