(WATERBURY, CT) — A Waterbury man was arrested Thursday night after police say he was seen waving a firearm in the air in the 400-block area of Meriden Road.
According to the Waterbury Police Department, patrol officers responded to the area at approximately 9:53 p.m. on May 22, 2026, following reports of a man displaying a firearm. Police said there were no reports of shots fired and no evidence was located indicating any shots had been discharged.
Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jamie Berrios of Waterbury. Officers later located Berrios during a motor vehicle stop and observed what police described as a Glock-style handgun and a revolver in plain view inside the vehicle.
Authorities said Berrios showed signs of heavy intoxication and became uncooperative with officers during the investigation.
Police ultimately confirmed Berrios as the individual allegedly seen waving the firearm and took him into custody.
Berrios was charged with:
- Unlawful Storage of a Firearm
- Threatening in the First Degree
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Breach of Peace in the Second Degree
- Drinking While Operating a Motor Vehicle
- Interfering with Police
No injuries were reported in the incident.
