The American Job Center Northwest may be one of the most valuable resources in the Greater Waterbury area—and many residents don’t realize it’s available at no cost.

Funded through the U.S. Department of Labor and operated through the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, the American Job Center serves as a one-stop hub connecting job seekers, students, veterans, employers, and career changers with the tools they need to succeed in today’s workforce.

Whether you’re entering the job market for the first time, returning after time away, or looking to move up the career ladder, the center offers guidance, training opportunities, resume assistance, interview preparation, job search support, and connections to employers actively hiring throughout the region.

Who Can Benefit?

The American Job Center serves:

• Students and recent graduates seeking their first job opportunities
• Working adults looking to advance their careers
• Individuals seeking new skills or certifications
• Veterans and military spouses transitioning into civilian employment
• People with disabilities seeking employment support and resources
• Employers looking to recruit and retain qualified workers

Career Advancement Information Sessions

One of the center’s most popular offerings is its Career Advancement Information Session, where participants learn about available training programs, workforce services, and opportunities that could help them move toward a better career path.

Sessions are offered regularly:

Waterbury

• Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.
• Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Torrington

• Fridays at 9 a.m.

Danbury

• Thursdays at 10 a.m.

Virtual sessions are also available via Zoom on Fridays at 9 a.m. Interested participants can request an invitation by emailing info@nrwib.org.
