Waterbury- The Waterbury Police Department is reminding drivers to plan ahead as a DUI sobriety and safety checkpoint will be conducted Friday night on Baldwin Street.
The checkpoint will take place Friday, August 7, 2026, from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. near 2000 Baldwin Street as part of a partnership between the Waterbury Police Department Traffic Services Unit, the Connecticut Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Police said the checkpoint is part of ongoing efforts to prevent impaired driving and improve roadway safety.
Connecticut law requires law enforcement agencies to provide public notice of scheduled DUI checkpoints. The purpose of announcing checkpoints ahead of time is to inform motorists while encouraging responsible decisions behind the wheel.
Drivers are reminded to never operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs and to arrange a safe ride if needed.
The Waterbury Times will continue to provide updates on public safety announcements affecting the community.
