Waterbury- The Waterbury Police Department will conduct an active shooter training exercise Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Crosby High School, located at 300 Pierpont Road.
The training is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. and continue into the early afternoon. The exercise is designed to provide officers with realistic, hands-on experience responding to a potential active shooter incident.
According to police, the drill will include live role players, simulated emergency scenarios, police radio communications, and tactical response procedures similar to those used during an actual critical incident.
Residents and community members should expect an increased police presence in the area, including police vehicles and emergency response activity. Officials emphasized that there is no active threat and no emergency — the activity is part of a scheduled training exercise.
The Waterbury Police Department said realistic training exercises are conducted to ensure officers are prepared to respond effectively and safely to critical incidents while protecting students, staff, and the community.
