Seven’s Village Restaurant to Close in November After 40+ Years in Waterbury

The Waterbury Times|October 6, 2026

WATERBURY — After four decades of serving the city, Seven’s Village Restaurant is closing its doors.

For 40 years, the restaurant has been part of the fabric of Waterbury — a place where generations of residents could sit down for a meal, meet with family and friends, and share a little piece of everyday life.

Now, that chapter is coming to an end.

The closing of Seven’s Village is more than the loss of another local business. Restaurants that survive for four decades become part of the city’s institutional memory. Their significance is measured not only in meals served, but in the people who walked through their doors over the years.

Birthdays. Family dinners. Conversations over coffee. Business meetings. First dates. Regulars who knew the staff by name.

Those are the things that make a restaurant a neighborhood institution.

Waterbury has changed considerably over the past 40 years. Neighborhoods have changed. Businesses have come and gone. Generations have grown up and moved on. Through all of it, Seven’s Village remained a familiar name on the local landscape.

Its closing leaves another empty space in a city where longtime independent businesses are increasingly difficult to sustain.

There will be another restaurant. There will be another business occupying another storefront.

But there will only be one Seven’s Village.

Forty years is a remarkable run for any restaurant — and in Waterbury, it represents something larger than longevity.

It represents a piece of the city’s history.

And for the people who spent part of their lives inside those walls, the restaurant’s closing will likely feel less like the end of a business and more like the closing of a familiar chapter in their own lives.

The Waterbury Times will continue to follow the closing of Seven’s Village Restaurant and will update this story with additional information as it becomes available.
