WATERBURY, CT — A Waterbury man has been arrested following a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured Friday evening, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
Police said that on March 6, 2026, at approximately 7:47 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Meadow Street and West Main Street for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
When officers arrived, they located a 28-year-old male from Waterbury suffering from injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Police said the victim sustained serious injuries to his lower extremities, though the injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Members of the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Through their investigation, detectives identified and located the suspected driver involved in the incident.
Police arrested Cristhian Vega, 28, of Waterbury, who was determined to be the operator of a white SUV that allegedly struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
Vega was charged with:
- Evading Responsibility (Felony)
Authorities said Vega is currently being held on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2026, at 9 a.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
