Update: Arrest Made in Waterbury Hit-and-Run Case|Court Date Set
Waterbury- Waterbury police have arrested Cristian Ernesto Vega-Bone, 27, in connection with the hit-and-run incident that left a victim with serious injuries last week on Meadow Street.
According to court records, Vega-Bone was taken into custody on March 6, 2026 by Waterbury Police. He is charged with Evading Responsibility Resulting in Serious Physical Injury under Connecticut statute 14-224(b)(1).

Court documents show bond was set at $30,000, which Vega-Bone posted using a 7% cash bond, and he has since been released from custody.
The case is currently listed for arraignment on March 17, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Waterbury GA 4.
Police have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash or the condition of the victim.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

On March 6th, 2026, at 7:47 pm, Waterbury Patrol Officers were dispatched the area of Meadow Street and West Main Street for reports of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. The victim, a 28-year-old Waterbury male, was located on scene injured, and was later transported to a local area hospital.
The victim received serious injuries to his lower extremities, which were determined to be non-life-threatening. He is currently in stable condition.
Members of the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded and took over theinvestigation. Through their investigative efforts, they located the suspect driver in the incident and took him into custody.
Cristhian Vega, 28, of Waterbury, was determined to be the operator of the white SUV that fled the scene after striking the pedestrian. He was charged with:
• Evading Responsibility (Felony)
Vega is currently being held on a $30,000 Bond and is arraigned to appear in court March 9th 2026, at 9 am.

Waterbury, CT (TWT) — A large police presence has shut down part of Meadow Street in Waterbury Friday as officers investigate what appears to be a possible hit-and-run incident, according to information from the scene.
Authorities have blocked off sections of the roadway while police and emergency personnel respond. Details remain limited, but early indications suggest the incident may involve a vehicle striking an individual before leaving the area.
At this time, it is unclear if there are injuries or if a suspect vehicle has been identified. Officers remain actively working the scene and traffic is being diverted around the area.

Residents and drivers are advised to avoid the Meadow Street corridor while the investigation continues.
