WATERBURY, CT — A simple act of recycling is turning into a meaningful show of community support this Saturday as local organizers host a Bottle Fundraiser Drive benefiting AAU basketball youth programs.
Held in partnership with community supporters, the event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 280 Chase River Road in Waterbury.
Residents are invited to drop off redeemable bottles and cans, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting youth basketball development. Organizers say the goal goes beyond fundraising—it’s about reinforcing structure, opportunity, and positive engagement for young athletes in the city.
The initiative, titled “Rebound on and off the Court,” reflects a broader message about growth and second chances—both in sports and in life. By turning everyday recycling into resources for youth programming, the effort highlights how small contributions can collectively create real impact.
Community members involved in the drive emphasize that programs like AAU basketball provide more than athletic training. They offer mentorship, discipline, teamwork, and a constructive outlet for young people navigating daily challenges.
Organizers encourage families, supporters, and local residents to stop by, contribute what they can, and be part of a shared investment in Waterbury’s youth.
In a time when communities continue looking for ways to strengthen connection and opportunity, events like this serve as a reminder: progress is often built one bottle—and one act of support—at a time.
“We are built different,” organizers added, underscoring the pride and resilience driving the effort forward.
