WATERBURY, CT — As The Waterbury Times continues its Teacher Spotlight Series, Waterbury Public Schools is recognizing educators across the district whose dedication, leadership, and commitment to students earned them the distinction of 2026 Teacher of the Year.
The remaining honorees represent schools throughout the city and reflect the depth of educational talent serving Waterbury students every day.
The remaining 2026 Teachers of the Year include:
- Dolores Rivera Bambus – Bucks Hill Elementary
- Ilea Gonzalez – Crosby High School
- Marcy M. Pogodzienski – Duggan School
- Dr. Kimberly Kulesza – West Side Middle School
- Kristina Martinez – Bunker Hill School
- Elizabeth Fac – Walsh School
From elementary classrooms to high school campuses, these educators play an important role in shaping the academic growth, confidence, and future success of students across Waterbury.
The district-wide recognition highlights the impact teachers continue to have both inside and outside the classroom, helping strengthen school communities throughout the city.
