CIVIC RECORD & POLITICAL EVOLUTION: A PERSONAL ACCOUNT OF ENGAGEMENT IN WATERBURY AND CONNECTICUT (2022–2026)

DM Livingston |Transparency|July 5, 2026

Waterbury- In the years following reduced civic participation during the 2016 and 2020 election cycles, I re-engaged in public life beginning in 2022. That year marked a turning point in my civic involvement in Connecticut politics, as well as the decision to launch The Waterbury Times as a local media platform focused on accountability, reporting, and community engagement.

This article is intended as a transparent record of my civic participation and political evolution across recent election cycles, as I continue increasing my involvement in Waterbury’s civic and political landscape heading into 2026-2027 and beyond.

2022: Re-Engagement in Civic Life

The 2022 election cycle marked my return to active civic participation. During this period, I supported Bob Stefanowski in the Connecticut gubernatorial race. At the federal level, I also supported George Logan in Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District race.

This period also coincided with my decision to begin developing The Waterbury Times as a local journalism platform focused on community reporting and civic accountability.

2023: Local Elections and Municipal Focus

In 2023, my attention shifted more directly to municipal governance and local leadership in Waterbury. During that election cycle, I supported Dawn Maiorano for Mayor of Waterbury.

My focus during this period centered on local governance issues and municipal decision-making affecting Waterbury neighborhoods and city operations.

2024: Reassessment and National Election Cycle

The 2024 election cycle reflected a period of reassessment in my political alignment and civic perspective.

Following a break in engagement with the George Logan congressional campaign, I subsequently still supported failed attempt in the U.S. House race. On the national level, I supported Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election due to the transition from Biden to Harris at the last minute with the hopes that the 2nd term would prove fruitful.

This period represented a shift in my political decision-making based on evolving views of leadership, governance, and national direction.

2025: Continued Local Civic Participation

In 2025, I again supported the Republican slate led by Dawn Maiorano in the Board of Aldermen elections. My continued focus remained on local governance and municipal leadership in Waterbury.

Looking Ahead: 2026- 2027 and Beyond

As I move toward increased civic participation in Waterbury heading into 2026 elections and future election cycles, my focus remains on local accountability, community engagement, and public service.

This record is published as a transparent reflection of my civic involvement over time and my continued commitment to engaging in Waterbury’s political and civic landscape through journalism, public discourse, and community involvement.
